The structures determine the properties, and the properties determine theapplications. Recently, the researches of supramolecular chemistry, which is based onthe synthesis and self-assembly of organometallic complexes, have developed into thedepth of the properties and applications. In order to obtain metallic organicframeworks with excellent properties and potential applications, a multiple series ofbenzimidazole and1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid organic ligands based onpyridine ends were designed and synthesized. Furthermore, we studied theirself-assembly reactions with transition metals under hydrothermal conditions. Aboutthirty complexes were characterized by IR、1H NMR、CCD、PXRD、elemental analysisand so on.I. A series of benzimidazole ligands based on pyridine ends were designed andsynthesised. Self-assembly reactions of these ligands were researched underhydrothermal and solvent diffusion methods with cations such as Zn(II), Cd(II),Ag(I), Co(II), Ni(II) and so on. Besides, the effctions of co-ligands on thestructures of the complexes were also studied. Eighteen complexes weresynthesized and characterized by IR and CCD. Moreover, parts of fluorescenceproperties and thermal stabilities were also discussed in this chapter.II. Four1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid organic ligands were synthesised;influence factors on single crystal growth were researched, including pH andtemperature. Four novel complexes were synthesized under hydrothermalconditions with the participations of the organic ligands and Fe(II), Co(II) andZn(II) cations. Two methods of how to synthesized complex19were alsoresearched and fluorescence properties of some ligands under room temperaturewere discussed.III. Based on the previous work on the ligands of1,2,4-triazole of our group, I didsome supplement for the four ligands of1,2,4-triazole. Seven complexes wereobtained, which promoted the research on this type of ligands. Besides, spaceconfigurations and weak interactions of the complexes were also discussed. During the research, we found the ligands mentioned above could coordinatedwith Zn(II), Cd(II), Fe(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) well; the complexes have excellentthermal and physical stabilities, and they could stand well in common solvent. I thinkthe facts mentioned above would be helpful for the further research.
