As an environmental sampling technique, the Sonic drilling was used for layeredsamples, with a double motor to drive eccentric shafts, which can produce highfrequency force to vibrate the drill pipe. Vibration isolation on the power head,although regarded as one of the key technologies, has not been drawn enoughattention in China. In this paper, a new power head was studied using theoreticalanalysis and computer simulation.First of all, the mathematical and the3D models of vibration isolation systemwere designed for researching the subsequent dynamic simulation and evaluation,according to the structure and working principle of the sonic power head. Additionally,as for key components, like cylindrical roller bearings, bolts, spindle, and supportplate, simulation models, under reasonable boundary conditions, were established andthe ANSYS simulation were studied to obtain displacement and the stress nephogram.Furthermore, the ADAMS dynamics simulation of power head is built based onthe dynamics of rigid bodies and the simplified structure of vibration isolation system.It was completed under the condition where there were linear damping and differentrotation speed of eccentric shaft. This simulation was used to obtain the displacement,velocity and acceleration curve of the main shaft. In terms of the static test of ringmetal rubber, some static load tests were conducted in two different loading ways(point and continuous load with different speed). As a result, the chart of thedisplacement load hysteresis loop was acquired and the relationship between load anddisplacement was clearly figured out.Finally, in light of the consequences of the field work, the isolation structures,including the coupling structure on the main shaft and the supporting plate, were keptoptimizing through ANSYS.
