As one kind of new super oil-sorption materials, high oil-absorption resins developrapidly with water pollution increasing all over the world. High internal phaseemulsion template applying to prepare porous materials has been a hotspot researcharea. With a number of advantages, such as simple reaction, fast reaction rate, highproductive rate, little by-products and environmental friendly, click chemistrybecomes an important way to synthetize polymer materials. We synthesizedacrylate-based and alkene-based high oil-absorption resins, respectively, with freeradical polymerization and thiol-ene click chemistry via high internal phase emulsiontemplate. The influences of reactive conditions on oil absorbency of resins were alsoinvestigated.Lauryl methacrylate (LMA), Hexadecyl methacrylate (HMA) and Stearymethacrylate (SMA) with long-chain alkyl groups were chosen as monomers toprepare high oil-absorption resins by free radical polymerization, with pentaerythritoltriarylate (PETA) and azodiisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as cross linker and initiator, respectively. In the procedure of the synthesis, the effects of initiator loading, crosslinker concentration, emulsifying agent content, porogen content, reaction temperature, reaction time and the water/oil volume ratio were investigated. Defined optimumreaction conditions were also obtained. The highest oil absorptivity of the resin foreach high oil-absorptiont resin was about24g/g,34g/g and35g/g intrichloromethane respectively. Results of the adsorption kinetics illustrated that theadsorption process was film diffusion. The oil absorbency of the oil-absorbing resinswas mainly the same after three times regeneration. The SEM images showed thatthe interconnected three-dimensional structure enhanced the absorbency and the oilabsorbing rate of the resins. The thermal stabilities indicated that the highoil-absorption resins decomposed at high temperature and they were desirable to useunder normal conditions.Emulsion templating of high internal phase emulsion was used to synthesize highoil-absorption resins with hexadecyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate ascomonomers, and trimethylolpropane triacrylate as cross linker. Effects ofcross-linking agent, emulsifier, initiator and porogen, polymerization temperature, polymerization time, the water/oil volume ratio and dosage of comonomer on theproperties of high oil-absorption resins were discussed. The optimum polymerizationconditions for synthesis of high oil-absorption resin were obtained. The highest oilabsorbency in trichloromethane was34g/g. The oil absorbency of the resinremained constant after three times recovery. The thermal stabilities indicated thatthe high oil-absorption resins were desirable to use under normal conditions.High oil-absorbing resins were synthesized by high internal phase emulsiontemplate by adding inorganic salt anhydrous calcium chloride to the emulsion systems,with1-octadecene as the monomer, pentaerythritol tetraacrylate as cross-linking agent,2,2′-azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator, Span80as emulsifier, cyclohexane asporogen, respectively. The adsorption property of the high oil-absorbing resins forchloromethane was studied. Effects of cross-linking agent, reaction time, watervolume fraction, initiator, emulsifier and temperature on the property of the highoil-absorbing resins were also studied. The optimum polymerization conditions forsynthesis of high oil-absorbing resin were obtained. The highest oil absorbency of theresin for trichloromethane was27g/g.High oil-absorbing resin was synthesized by thiol-ene click chemistry via highinternal phase emulsion template, with pentaerythritol tetraacryla (PETEA) as alkenemonomer and trimethylolpropane tris(3-mercaptopropionate)(TMPMP) as thiol. Themost optimization condition to sythnsize high oil-absorption resin was established, and the highest oil absorbency of the resin for trichloromethane was20g/g.
