At present, multi-axis linkage CNC machine tool is key equipment about high speed and high precision machining complex surface profile parts, especially for five-axis linkage machine. however,the space tool radius compensation function module is important for high-grade multi-axis linkage CNC machine, which improve programming efficiency and ensure the production processing real-time. At the market of tool machine, that only a few oversea well-known enterprise have this function in high-grade CNC system, as for the present of the domestic machine tool,the function module of the plane tool radius compensation has been used very much. In multi-axis linkage nc machining, the tool radius compensation is still in the development. Due to the tool’s rotation and swing, which is relative to the workpiece, and the tool vector changed from time to time, it leads to the space tool compensation function to achieve more difficult. So there is some theoretical value and great realistic meaning to do some research of space tool radius compensation function module in the multi-axis linkage.This paper mainly analyzes the processing method of the four-axis&five-axis linkage CNC machine. The realization of space tool radius compensation of the algorithm and the key problem to be solved are summarized. The space tool radius compensation vector and the algorithm expression will be putted forward. The space tool radius compensation model will be established, taking four-axis linkage with A and B turntable&five-axis linkage A/C double turntable machine and ball tool for example, the processing model is established, with UG NX6.0CAD software model, the cutter location source file which generated by CAM module is as the tool position data file, and do some research of processing algorithm and the inverse algorithm. Realizing the coordinate transformation between the workpiece coordinate system and nominal coordinate system, the five-axis linkage3D tool radius compensation special post-processing software and the multi-axis linkage CNC machine tool space compensation special post-processing software are developed.I do some research as follows:1.The papers and monographs which is related with issuse are collected, the object of study is determined, the space tool radius compensation model and the expression of algorithm are extablished,2. Through the UG NX6.0model.the cutter location source files which generated from the CAM module are analysised, calculating the space tool radius compensation unit vector, and at the same time, according to four-axis linkage and five-axis double rotary table type machine model, the coordinate conversion relation between the workpiece coordinate system and nominal coordinate system is setted up.3. The special post processing software with3D tool compensation vector is developed, in order to improve the machining efficiency, this paper put forward a small angle rotation transformation algorithm, as soon as five-axis machine is concerned, A angle with positive and negative transformation can reduce C angle large and wide rotation scope, to avoid the phenomenon of tool touch, with VC++6.0software for the programming development platform, the two special post-processing software are developed.4. With the Vericut7.0software to simulate machining environment, we can look at color view, we can find that if the processing blank and the design of parts is cutted or not. the post processing software practicability and the algorithm of space tool radius compensation vector are to be validated feasibility and correctly.5. Finally, the special post processing software output the NC code with the space tool compensation vector and standard tool to process actually in four-axis and five-axis linkage CNC machine.with the three coordinates measuring instrument for processing parts to get data,and the workpiece machining accuracy requirement is checked.
