Aimed at the research project of gear rack drilling rigs for slant well which came fromthe Cooperation project for China Petroleum Liaohe Equipment Company and based on thesufficient research of the relevant information of the pipe display and transmissiontechnology of drilling operation form domestic and overseas, land drilling and offshoredrilling, this paper put forward a new type of access operation system of the automated pipehanding system and changed the traditional way of drill pipe display and transmission. Thissystem of automated pipe access operation has significant advantages such as less laborintensity, lower drilling cost and higher security and efficiency of the drilling operation.The automated drilling pipe access operation system of slant well drilling rig wasdesigned in detail according to the requirement of drill pipe display and transmission. The3Dmodel of the device was created with SolidWorks. The strength check and calculation of thekey components was realized with Simulation and the overall structure of the automaticaccess system was confirmed.The simplified simulation models of two major parts of the automated pipe handingsystem was created with SolidWorks and the results was imported into ADAMS. With therequired geometric constraints the kinematics and dynamics simulation analysis was solved.We got the displacement, velocity and acceleration curves of transmission process at differentworking conditions. We confirmed the reasonable working scope of velocity and angle.
