With the development of modern warfare, the grasp of air superiority on the battlefield, which hada decisive influence in many wars, has become increasingly important. From last century to, severallocal wars have demonstrated the importance of air superiority on the battlefield. As a recruit, unmanned aerial combat aircraft is playing an increasingly important role in the modern air combat. Therefore, the worldwide researches on unmanned combat aircraft continue to grow. With thesuperiority in stealth, cruise performance, lift performance, drag performance, structure, weight andother areas, flying wing aircraft becomes the popular of recent studies. This paper describes the development process of the flying wing aircraft and their characteristics indetail. At the same time, with the advantages and disadvantages of the flying wing over the traditionallayout depicted. According to the theory of three-dimensional perspective and the pictures gotten byrelevant information, with the three-dimensional shape reconstruction of the X-47A and X-47Bunmanned combat aircraft accomplished. By using Euler equation and non-structural grid, complete theaerodynamic calculation of the two models in the whole subsonic flow under different angle of attack.Comparative analysis of their own aerodynamic performance under a different Mach number has beendone. Through the comparison analysis of the aerodynamic characteristics of X-47A and X-47B underthe same Mach number, we get the change of the aerodynamic characteristics of X-47B with an outerwing added compared with the X-47A. A preliminary study and explore of the aerodynamiccharacteristics of flying wing unmanned combat aircraft is done in this paper, with the calculation of theX-47A and X-47B using physical optics(PO) method in FEKO and the results analyzed.
