In recent years, the highway transportation industry has developed greatly, and the number of commercial vehicles is growing all the time. At the same time, the number of traffic accidents of commercial vehicles keeps high and lead to giant human injury and properties damage. There are many reasons lead to traffic accidents of commercial vehicles, and the bad performance of vehicle handling stability is one of the most important one.The purpose of this paper is to establish monitor platform for commercial vehicle handling and driving stability using special software which can design visual operation interface, which based on evaluation methods and evaluation parameters for commercial vehicle handling and driving stability. The users just need to input vehicle basic parameters, the simulation parameters and the real vehicle handling and driving stability testing data by the software user interface, and the result of vehicle handling stability can be obtained through the inner calculation of the software.Firstly, vehicle dynamic models are established and proper tire models are selected. MATLAB is used to simulate vehicle handling stability and the correctness of the dynamic models is verified by comparing the simulation results and the corresponding testing results. Based on this, popular evaluation methods and evaluation parameters for vehicle handling stability are analyzed and suitable methods and parameters are obtained. For bus, vehicle roll angel is selected as the evaluation parameter; lateral acceleration is selected as the evaluation parameter for single heavy truck; hinge angle gain and lateral acceleration are selected as evaluation parameters for tractor-semitrailer.MATLAB is selected as the back-office operation of the visual interface platform, SQL server is select as the database, and ODBC is selected as the connection of MATLAB and SQL server data source. The three ones are used to establish the monitor platform for vehicle handling stability. The platform is composed of bus, tractor-semitrailer, national standards, and related links, help and forms printing modules, which is capable of operating commercial vehicle handling and stability evaluate, basic data query/modify/delete and the relevant national standards query, as well as form printing and other functions.The monitor platform for commercial vehicle handling and driving stability could help in detecting and supervising the handling stability of commercial vehicles, and achieving the corresponding administers to totally command the situation of vehicle handling stability.
