Firstly, VR technology and its applications on flight simulation are introduced,and the pivotal techniques of scene simulation, such as process of building scene,three-dimensional (3D) modeling, building and display of real-time scene, areanalyzed. Secondly, based on the research project “R&D of the tactical trainingequipment for the airfight of some fighters”, a DIS flight scene simulation platform isdesigned and developed in the paper. The platform is relatively universal, real-time.The research mainly focuses on the respects listed below:Based on analysis of VR, the paper gives brief introduce on Creator and Vega.The expatiation of pivotal techniques of scene brings forward design principle.From six aspects, the components, interface, network frame and work mechanismof the flight scene simulation platform are designed wholly. The aspects includeestablishment of the aircraft dynamics model, net framework, structure model, systemfunction, sequence of frame romance and simulation course. The aircraft dynamicsmodel is established with Simulink. The platform is composed of input system,aircraft dynamics simulation system and scene display system. In order to improvegenerality and expansibility of the platform, Simulation Control Mainframe (SCM)and Target Simulation Computer (TSC) are adopted.The development step is realtime3D modeling, VR sence setting and realtimerunning. According to the step, flight scene simulation platform is empoldered in thefollowing way, which is using Creator to establish3D models of several aircrafts,Lynx to set VR sence, and Vega+VC to realize data transfering and realtime running.The real time and generality of the platform are verified through the mensurationof system performance.The research can not only provide vivid flight and combat circumstance for thetactical training equipment for the airfight of some fighters, but also give guidance tothe development of similar scene simulation platform.
