[Objective] Based on clinical medical reports of national TCM master Zhou Zhongying for treating lung cancer for a long time, the method of comprehensive analysis is adopted to research the clinical experience and academic ideas of Professor Zhou Zhongying for differentiating and treating lung cancer in order to further guide clinical practice, contributing to the happiness of human beings.[Methods] By following Professor Zhou Zhongying to copy prescriptions during postgraduate’s period, the medical reports on lung cancer in recent8years were collected and cleared up. By strictly screening according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, medical records of80patients with lung cancer matching conditions were selected, then the database of collecting and storing case records was established by software SQL-Server2005. The method of comprehensive analysis was applied to analyze their symptoms, pathological factors, pathogenesis and the distribution of drugs’ times and frequency, and summarize the digging results.[Results] Among80patients with lung cancer,55cases were the males and25cases were the females. The oldest was85years old, the youngest35years old, and the mean age63.59. The main symptoms included cough with phlegm, dry mouth, unsmooth breathing, chest oppression, anorexia, bloody phlegm, chest pain, lassitude, back pain. and dry or loose stool. The pathological factors primarily involved phlegm, stasis, deficiency, toxins, heat, depression and fluids, and their occurrence times were respectively73,73,69,61,34,33and6. The pathogenesis closely related to lung cancer included impairment of dual qi and yin, phlegm and stasis transforming into toxins, heat toxins, phlegm and stasis, mutual binding of phlegm and stasis, impairment of lung collateral, disemboguement of cancerous toxins, deficiency of spleen and stomach, retention of fluids in the chest and hypochondrium, wind-phlegm-stasis obstruction, disharmonization of lung collateral and internal accumulation of heat toxins. The major applied drugs were drugs for replenishing qi and nourishing yin, drugs for resisting cancer and resolve toxins, drugs for resolving phlegm and dissipating masses, drugs for regulating qi and activating blood as well as drugs for invigorating spleen and harmonizing stomach, in which the frequencies over20times were in turn Radix Glehniae (71times), Radix Adenophorae (70times), Radix Ophiopogonis (70times), Radix Pseudostellariae (68times), Pseudobulbus Cremastrae seu Pleiones (68times), Herba Agrimoniae (67times), Herba Euphoribiae Helioscopiae (66times), Radix Ranunculi Ternati (64times), Herba Hedyotis Diffusae (62times), prepared Bombyx Batryticatus (54times), prepared Carapax Trionycis (52times), Semen Coicis (51times), Herba Sarcandrae (47times), Rhizoma Arisaematis praeparatum (40times), Nidus Vespae (40times), Herba Scutellariae Barbatae (38times), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (29times), Caulis Spatholobi (28times), Radix Astragali (26times), Radix Asparagi (24times), Poria (23times), Taxus Chinensis (22times), Flos Inulae (22times), Radix et Rhizoma Rubiae (22times), Massa Medicata Fermentata (21times), Herba Houttuyniae (21times) and Radix Rhapontici (20times).[Conclusion]1. the five pathological factors of lung cancer mainly include phlegm, stasis, deficiency, toxins and depression, in which the key one is cancerous toxin;2. the basic pathogenesis is phlegm-stasis stagnating the lung and impairment of dual yin and qi. The syndrome pertains to deficiency in root and excess in branch, in which deficiency in root refers to deficiency of dual qi and yin and excess in branch involves phlegm, stasis, depression, toxins and heat;3. the commonly-used drugs of Professor Zhou Zhongying for treating lung cancer mainly include drugs for replenishing qi and nourishing yin, drugs for resisting cancer and resolving toxins, drugs for resolving phlegm and dissipating masses, drugs for regulating qi and activating blood as well as drugs for invigorating spleen and harmonizing stomach.
