| With the development of society, the growth of population and the improvement ofeconomic conditions and the health standards, people’s demands for medical and healthinsurance are increasing and they require more and more. However, nowadays medicalservices industry resources are shortage and the problems of losing balance between supplyand demand are very obvious. Patients have to wait for a long time, which makes themunsatisfied with the medical service. What’s worse, it could even cause tensions betweendoctors and patients. In order to solve these problems, now hospital administrators start to payattention to medical management and business process reengineering. Appointment systemhas been widely used.Now the appointment system has become a focus in medical services industry and hasobtained some achievements. The key to appointment system is how to design reasonable,efficient appointment scheduling rules. The newest study findings show that amongout-patient departments which exists no-shows behaviors and so on, the most idealappointment scheduling way should have a shape of “DOMEâ€. On the basis of the traditional"DOME" scheduling rules, this paper gives a new way to improve "DOME" scheduling rules,and analyzes how the new scheduling rules have made influences on the performance ofout-patient department appointment system. In summary,in this paper, we mainly concentrateon the following two points:1. After reviewing recent literatures on medical services appointment system, we focus onunderstanding the way and the mechanisms to realize appointment scheduling and sortingcontrol, and also know well the simulation methods and procedures, etc. Those can help tomaster the necessary theory for later research.2. By comparing the improvement on the new "DOME" scheduling rule with traditional rules,we prove the usability and the advantages of the new rules, furthermore, the paper shows thesituation when the rules can be used.3. We also study the effect on appointment system by the new "DOME" scheduling rule whenput patient classification into effect. |
