Objective:To study the significance of expression of mtP53and Survivin in ovarian borderline epithelial tumors, to approach to the correlation with mtP53and Survivin, to study the development, progression and turnover of ovarian borderline epithelial tumors in order to determine the prognosis. Methods:In this study, the Clinic-Pathological Characteristics of30cases of ovarian borderline epithelial tumors from the first affiliated hospital of Bengbu Medical College in2007to’2010were analyzed retrospectively. The expression of mtP53and Survivin were examined by ElivisionTM plus immunostaining in90cases, of which epithelial benign ovarian tumors were30cases, epithelial borderline ovarian tumors30cases, epithelial ovarian carcinomas30cases. Their differences of protein mtP53and Survivin expression among the three groups were assessed by ChiSquare test and Rank-Sum test. The follow-up cases in epithelial borderline ovarian tumors had20cases, from six months to three years, between these2cases recrudesced. Results:The positive rates of Survivin immunostaining in epithelial benign ovarian tumors, epithelial borderline ovarian tumors, and epithelial ovarian carcinomas were13.33%,43.33%and86.67%respectively, there being significant difference between the three groups(P<0.05). The positive rates of mtP53in epithelial benign ovarian tumors, epithelial borderline ovarian tumors and epithelial ovarian carcinomas were23.33%,36.67%and73.33%respectively, there being statistical difference between the epithelial ovarian carcinomas with the epithelial benign and borderline ovarian tumors (P<0.05-P<0.01), but no statistical difference between the benign ovarian tumors and borderline ovarian tumors(P>0.05)(To see in the table2). There was positively related between the expression of Survivin and mtP53in borderline ovarian tumors (r=0.47).The patients with mtP53(+) had higher recrudescence rates, compared with patients with mtP53(-)(P<0.05). The patients with Survivin (+) had no higher recrudescence rates, compared with patients with Survivin(-)(P>0.05).Conclusion:The over expression of Survivin and mtP53suggests that they may play certain role in oncogensis and progression of epithelial borderline ovarian tumor. Diagnosis and prognosis of the epithelial borderline ovarian tumor can be carried out theoretically on the basis of this. Additionally, they may play a role in the pathogenesis of epithelial borderline ovarian tumor together.
