Objectives:This study aims to describe the current status of Non-communicable diseases (NCDs)and quality of life among rural elderly and its influencing factors in the Dabie mountainarea, and probes into the main measures to improve the present quality of life of oldpeople in the rural areas. Providing the scientific basis for the relevant departments tomake scientific decisions and distribute legitimately medical resource.Methods:Using the cluster sampling method to extract the elderly from a county in thehinterland of Dabie mountain area in Anhui province. Respondents wereresident elderly population who aged≥60years old and had the local rural householdregistration.Taking homemade questionnaires to survey Prevalence of ChronicDiseases and quality of life. The questionnaire included sociodemographiccharacteristics living habits, health status and health services, chronic illnesses,activities of daily living, quality of life and so on. We set up the quantitative databaseusing EpiData3.1. The database was analyzed using SPSS10.0. In the study, singlefactor analysis included variance analysis, t-test and the chi-square test. Many factorsuse multiple linear regression analysis.Results:Surveyed1117rural elderly, the actual answer number1100, the effective responserate of98.5%;1100rural elderly age range60-95years old, average age (70.07±6.591), of which348males (31.6%), and752females (68.4%), male to female ratio of 1:2.16;545(49.5%) rural elderly among our samples (1100elderly) had NCD,among them, the elderly suffering from one kind of chronic203people, accounting for18.4%of the total number of the survey,181people suffer from two kinds of chronicdiseases, accounting for16.5%, suffering from the chronic disease of three kinds andmore than161people, accounting for14.6%, prevalence rate of chronic disease ofmen was50.6%and female prevalence was56.6%, no significant difference in gender(χ~2=0.385,P>0.05).The five most frequent NCDs are hypertension (22.4%),chronic gastrointestinal tract disease (15.6%), osteoarthritis (9.9%), coronary heartdisease(7.5%),chronic bronchitis (5.0%). In Dabie Mountains, the lowest score ofquality of life of rural elderly was10points, the highest score of26points, the averagescore (17.33±2.202), the average quality of life score of the elderly men(17.42±2.331) points, the average quality of life score of the female(17.29±2.139), no significant difference between gender (t=0.900, p>0.05). Themean among the1100rural elderly was17.33±2.20. Multivariate analysis showed thatelderly’ age, nearly six months ill injury rate, profession, the two-week prevalence rate,the ADL damage classification, number of brushing teeth every day, sleep condition,APGAR obstacles classification, BMI, exercise and the subjective health satisfactionwere all related to quality of life in our samples(P<0.05).Conclusions:The rural elderly chronic disease risk is higher in Dabie mountain area, the quality oflife was general and influenced by various factors. Relevant people and departmentsshould pay more attention to prevention and control the chronic disease and improve thequality of life.
