ObjectivesWe study tonsillectomy combined with drug therapy in the curative effect of IgA nephropathy.MeasuresA follow-up visit study was conducted in our nephrology department, we analysed266patients (223received tonsillectomy,43not) with IgA nephropathy from June1994to December2011.Results1. There is nearly no symptom at the onset, patients always were diagnosed IgA nephropathy because of urinalysis abnormity during the physical test (47.4%). Also, IgA nephropathy patients usually begin with the symptoms of catching a cold and pharyngalgia(21.1%).2. In the follow-up study, both hematuria and proteinuria in the patients of tonsillectomy group are improved either in the quantitative or qualitative analysis (P<0.05).3. The IgA nephropathy patients who underwent tonsillectomy or not have statistical differences(P<0.05)in the following data:the first remission time of hematuria (4.00±0.29,108.70±37.96months) and proteinuria (2.80±0.26,49.70±11.86months); the ease duration of hematuria (36.00±5.81,14.10±2.08months) and protenuria (36.00±4.89,11.20±1.89months);the relapse times/year of hematuria (10.92±2.62,0.27±1.72times/year) and proteinuria (9.52±3.69,0.33±2.00times/year); the cumulative remission rate of hematuria (93.5%,50.0%) and proteinuria (90.2%,57.9%).4. The IgA nephropathy patients companied renal insufficiency who received tonsillectomy can obviously decrease the value of hematuria and can also keep the mean serum creatinine147.16-151.32umol/L. However, the mean serum creatinine of the other is153.00-181.87umol/L.Conclusions1. Patients always were diagnosed IgA nephropathy because of urinalysis abnormity during the physical test, major in asymptomatic abnormal urinalysis.2. After tonsillectomy, both hameturia and proteinuria of the IgA patients could improve remarkably; and they reach first remission more quickly, had much longer ease duration; the cumulative remission rate would be higher; also, the relapse rate decreased.3.The recurrence times per year of urinalysis would be much less after tonsillectomy.4. The IgA nephropathy patients companied renal insufficiency who received tonsillectomy can keep the renal function stable.
