Objective:To evaluate related factors for prognosis of gastric cancer patients aftersurgery and effect of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy.Methods:583gastric cancerpatients after surgery between january2003and december2008were enrolled in thisstudy.the survival rate was estimated by Kaplan-Meier method and compared with Log-rank method, Differences between different groups were compared by Chi-Squaremethod. COX proportional hazards model for multivariate analysis. Results:Single factoranalysis shows that: preoperative CEA,tumor size, gross type, histological type, violationof depth, vascular invasion, lymph node dissection,TNM stage, combined chemotherapyor not, time between operation and1stpostoperative adjuvant chemotherapy as the numberof adverse prognostic factors (P <0.05); further multivariate analysis shows that:preoperative CEA,tumor size, gross type, histological type, violation of depth, vascularinvasion, lymph node dissection,TNM stage are independent prognostic factors affectsurvival.compared with OS and DFS of patients without postoperative adjuvantchemotherapy, those who accept chemotherapy are longer. Conclusion: In all the relatedfactors affecting prognosis of gastric cancer, preoperative CEA,tumor size, gross type, histological type, violation of depth, vascular invasion, lymph node dissection,TNM stageare independent prognostic factors.Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy would improvethe prognosis of gastric cancer and be suggested after operation.
