Objective: To investigate and summarize the medical status ofpatients with ischemic stroke in outpatient of our hospital, and evaluate themiddle-term follow-up results of secondary prevention, validity andreliability of essen score, and the correlation between essen score andmRS score of patients with ischemic stroke in neurology outpatient. Methods: During2010.7~2010.9,the patients with new onset ofcerebral infarction within half a year were enrolled to investigate thebasic situations, various risk factors and chronic drugs treatment, and toconducte essen score and mRS score. The incidence of endpoint eventsincluding recurrent infarction and cardiovascular events were evaluated andthe relationship between endpoint events and essen score were assessedafter1-year follow-up.Results:102patients were enrolled with an average age of67.4years and52.9%of male. The patients complicated with diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and atherosclerosis disease accounted for30.4%,70.6%,71.6%,49%,respectively.The proportion of proper use ofantiplatelet drugs, antihypertensive drugs, lipid-lowering drugs and hypoglycemic therapy were82.3%,98.6%,76.7%,93.5%respectively.Theproportion of use of antiplatelet drugs, antihypertensive drugs,lipid-lowering drugs and hypoglycemic therapy were74.5%,98.6%,63%,87.1%respectively after one-year follow-up.A positive correlationwas proved between essen score and mRS score. The incidence ofendpoint events in patients with ESRS≥3were significantly higher thanthose with ESRS <3.Conclusion: The situations such as lack of drug application, lowrate of chronic underlying disease control and poor long-term compliancestill exist in the current secondary prevention for ischemic stroke. Also, essen score can be as a effectively risk evaluatation of the incidence ofendpoint events and one of referential criteria in patients with ischemicstroke.
