| AimUsing humanistic caring ability scale to look into the status quo of caring ability of clinical nurse in unattended wards, including connotation and essence of care, the ability of making use of caring theory, and find the related questions in nursing care. To discuss the influencing factors of caring ability of nurse in unattended wards, formulate strategy of improving caring ability of nurses in unattended wards, change the traditional concepts of nurse, completely improving the quality of nurse,in an effort to solid foundation for the extension and application of the technology.Participants and methodsA total of610nurse picked from6level3general hospitals in Shandong Province were investigated with questionnaire about humanistic caring ability and its influencing factors,300of them were from unattended wards and310of them were from common wards. The inclusion criterias was the clinical nurses working in the hospital who has acquired the Nursing Qualification Certificate of Practice and within period of validity. The questionnaire was composed of3parts,(1)demographic information such as gender, age, birthplace, marriage, have child or not, only child or not, department,educational background, professional title, work experience, hire forms;(2) Humanistic Caring Ability of Nurse Assessment scale. Its constructive frame is a multi-dimensional structure composed of8dimensions, formation of humanistic-altruistic values(6items) instillation of faith and wish(9items), promotion of sensibility communication(5items), help for overcoming difficulty(5items), provision for good environment(5items),healthcare education(7items), assistance with the gratification of essential needs(4items) and scientific solution of health problem(4items).(3) Items regarding the way how nurses get information about caring and how nurses put caring into practice by choice questions. All questionnaires will be recorded in computer by Chinese version Excel2007All data obtained were statistically analyzed by software package SPSS17.0for windows. Statistical methods such as cronbach’s a coefficient, descriptive statistics analysis, Test-retest coefficient, factor analysis, χ2test, logistic regression and SME were used to assess the questionnaire.ResultThere was no significant statistical differences in terms of humanistic caring ability between general ward and unattended ward (P>0.05); There are significant statistical differences in terms of humanistic caring ability in different titles and hire form; There were no significant statistical differences in terms of humanistic caring ability in different education background. Whether they were managers, whether they had been married and whether they had children had significant influence in their humanistic caring ability (P<0.01,P<0.05),which could explain25.3percent of variations of the adversity quotient. Whether they were managers was the best predictive variable which could explain15.2percent of variations of the humanistic caring ability; the humanistic caring ability and sensitivity of external care had positive significance correlation. Principal component analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model were used to analyse the data and the statistics indicated that individual’s all-around quality and nurses perceived different extents of caring effected the humanistic caring ability of nurse in unattended ward.ConclusionThe humanistic caring ability of nurse in unattended ward has yet to be improved, the advantages in education background should expressed in humanistic caring ability. Family, hospitals and society should attend to improve the humanistic caring ability of nurse in unattended ward all together, we suggest to improve the humanistic caring ability of nurse by the way of training the nurses by the managers nurse in ward, experience care and practicing care. To enhance the individual’s all-around quality and increase the nurses perceived different extents of caring should be effective intervention strategies for improving the humanistic caring ability of nurse in unattended ward. |
