Objective:(1) One aim of this study was to explore psychological status and its related factor of patients with BMS from a new angle;(2) The other was to explore the alterations of resting-state brain function in BMS to find the disease-specific biological makers, by using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI);Methods:(1) Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Medical Coping Model Questionnaire (MCMQ) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised, Short Scale for Chinese (EPQ-RSC) were used to evaluate depressive and anxiety symptom, coping style and the personality features for patients with BMS (N=60) and the control group (N=60).(2)15patients with BMS and15well-matched healthy controls underwent1.5-Tesla MRI scanner.13BMS and14healthy controls were gained finally. The difference of default mode network (DMN) between the patients and the controls was examined, after the fMRI data was processed.Results:(1) Patients with BMS experienced depression and anxiety significantly more than the control group."Avoidant" and "compliant" coping style were positively correlated with depression (P<0.05); Psychoticism, neuroticism and lie of the personality were positively correlated with both depression and anxiety (P<0.01).(2) Patients with BMS showed increased functional connectivity in the superior, inferior frontal gyrus and anterior cingulate cortex, and decreased functional connectivity in precuneus and angular in BMS patients compared with the controls.Conclusions:(1) BMS patients were complicated with different degrees of anxiety and/or depression symptoms. Both the depression and anxiety state of BMS were greatly impacted by personality and coping model. It’s necessary to pay attention to the psychotherapy according to the feature of the psychology.(2) BMS patients were associated with abnormal resting-state DMN activity, especially in the frontal lobe, anterior, precuneus and angular. This study responded to the previous conclusion of the central neuropathic abnormalitity in BMS, from the angle of the resting-state DMN. It is important to understand the pathophysiology of BMS and strengthen the brain treatment of BMS.
