| Objective To investigate practice nurses’cognition of the patient safety culture, to analyze the dominant areas, the improvement areas and influencing factors of cognition the patient safety culture. To provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for patient safety culture education and improving the cognitive level of patient safety culture of nursing students. Methods investigating the nursing student interns Practiced in Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from March2011to March2012,420copies of questionnaires were issued, and394copies of effective questionnaires were recycled. Using frequency and constitute ratio to describe the count data, using the mean and standard deviation to describe the measurement data. Comparing the mean of measurement data, If meeting the normal distribution and homogeneity of variance, between the two groups, using the t test, among the multiple groups, using the F test; If heterogeneity of variance Or non-normal distribution, between the two groups, using the Wilcoxon rank sum test, among the multiple groups, using the Kruskal-Wallis H test. Correlation analysis between two continuous variables, if bivariate are normal distribution, using linear correlation analysis; if Pairs of variables are not normal distribution, using Spearman rank correlation. All statistical analyzes were done in SPSS16.0software package. Select α=0.05as the test standards.Results1. The score of Practical nurses on the cognition of the patient safety culture was149.29±18.48; the overall positive agreed rate was58.04%. Each dimensions agreed rate was<75%, the embodiment of dominant area was not obvious.2. Advantageous events of Practical nurse on patient safety culture cognition are mainly distributed in the "teamwork, continuous improvement of organizational learning, manager’s expectations and actions of the promotion of safety, supporting the management of patient safety" five projects in four dimensions(agreed rate was75%~81%); for improved projects including " non-punitive response to error, event reporting frequency, the openness of communication, manpower allocation"10projects in four dimensions (agreed rate was22.8%48.7%).3. There were differences on the cognition of the event reporting frequency dimension between different ages and educated practical nurse (P<0.05).The low age group interns got higher score than the high age group interns, The tertiary educated interns got higher score than the undergraduate educated interns;.65.5%of practical nurses did not know the system of "Adverse care events without punishment reported".4. There were differences on the cognition of patient safety culture among different sections (P<0.05):the practical nurses of operating room and emergency department scored the highest, respectively155.1±1.44,152.18±13.07.5. The differences of the cognitive of practical nurses whether experienced the adverse care events on patient safety culture was statistically significant (P<0.05):practical nurses not experienced the adverse care events scored higher (150.27±18.44) than practical nurses experienced the adverse care events (143.71±17.79).6. Different ages, different educational background, different gender practical nurses scored low to accept the patient safety culture education, and no significant difference.7. There was correlation between occupational identity and patient safety culture dimensions (r=0.329, P<0.05).Conclusions1. The score of cognition of nursing profession intern in the patient safety culture was generally low. The embodiment of dominant area was not obvious. Advantageous events of Practical nurse on patient safety culture cognition were mainly distributed in the "teamwork, continuous improvement of organizational learning, manager’s expectations and actions of the promotion of safety, supporting the management of patient safety" five projects in four dimensions. For improved projects including " non-punitive response to error, event reporting frequency, the openness of communication, manpower allocation"10projects in four dimensions.2. There were differences on the cognition of nursing profession intern in the patient safety culture between different ages, different educational background, and different sections.3. In the two dimensions of the event reporting frequency and openness of communication, practical nurses got low score, suggesting that nursing educator should strengthen the relevant training..4. Occupational identity and the various dimensions of patient safety culture had good correlation. |
