Comparion The MAC Of Sevoflurane Between The Hans And The Uighuras

Objective: To compare Han and Uygur sevoflurane minimum alveolar concentration.Methods:we recruited40American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I and IIadult patients belonging to. All were scheduled to undergo surgery requiring a skinincision exceeding3cm.Without premedication, anesthesia was induced with6-8%sevoflurane in100%oxygen, and tracheal intubation was facilitated with succinylcholine.The skin incision was made after apredetermined end-tidal concentration of sevoflurane of2.0%was maintained for at least10min in the first patient in each group. Blindedinvestigators observed the patient for movement during the subsequent minute. Theconcentration in the next patient was increased by0.2%when patients moved, ordecreased by the same amount when they did not. Results are presented as means(95%confidence intervals).Results:Morphometric and demographic characteristics were similaramong the groups; the Uighurs Minimum alveolar concentration for sevoflurane was2.35%(95%confidence limits,2.20～2.53%),and the hans MAC was2.21%(95%confidence limits,1.99～2.67%),(P＜0.001).Conclusion:The results suggest thatminimum alveolar concentration varies as a function of ethnicity.
