Adult Normal Hippocampal Structure Section Of The MRI Measurement

Objective To measure the area of the hippocampal structure on specificbrain level of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which may provide thecriteria in diagnosis of Epilepsy and Alzheimer’s diseaseMethods We rebuild the3D reconstruction of the brain and selected thespecific sections on coronal plane、cross section and sagittal plane, thenmeasured the areas of the hippocampus using the software on thecomputer.Results In different sections, we found that the left and righthippocampal areas are significantly different(P<0.05), but thehippocampal areas of males and females are not concordance in thisstudy.Conclusion It’s difference between left and right hippocampal area, sothe hippocampal area of the health adults could be the criteria for atrophyof hippocampus and a brief approach instead of the volumetric measuresto apply in the clinic diagnosis.
