Toxoplasma gondii was discovered in1908by scholar CharlesNicolle, named for its characteristics form a bow, hereinafter referred asToxoplasma. It lives within the cell, as the flow of blood to all parts of thebody, causes the toxoplasmosis, such as toxoplasma peritonitis, retinalchoroiditis, toxoplasma encephalitis, central nervous systemdevelopmental disorders, etc, even can cause patient death. The centralnervous system damage is more severe, many studies have shown thatcertain types of mental illness and development infected withToxoplasma, which are attracting more attention from people. At present, the study of T. gondii, mostly focused on Toxoplasmainfection immunology, pathology, molecular biology, epidemiology, pathogenic mechanism and vaccine research, although have informationabout distribution of T.gondii in the host, but have not yet seenToxoplasma (RH strain) distribution within the mice brain tissues ofliterature report. This experiment firstly established that mice infectedwith Toxoplasma model by tail vein injection, which detected theToxoplasma after the Toxoplasma infection different time in differentarea of the small mouse with PCR technology, evaluated the parasitedistribution in different area of the brain tissue in experimental mice.Parallel, took150psychiatric patients and50normal bloods as samples todetect the Toxoplasma-antibodies in serum via ELISA kits, RT-PCR method was used to detect the serum Toxoplasma gene, to explore therelationship between infection of Toxoplasma and mental illness.Intravenous injection of T. gondii in mice, random taken mice after24h, its abdominal cavity fluid and blood smear was observed under themicroscope, the Toxoplasma infection mouse model was successfullyestablished. Application of PCR technology was used to dynamic monitormice brain tissues and infected with different time, shown Toxoplasmaentering the brain tissues7days after infected with Toxoplasma.Different areas brain tissues of mice in different time after infection wasdynamic monitored with PCR technology proved that Toxoplasma hasdifferent infection ability for different areas of the brain tissues of mice.ELISA method was used to detect Toxoplasma in blood of psychiatricpatients and normal people, using statistical methods to analysis, theresults shown that positive rate of Toxoplasma infection in psychiatricpatients was obviously higher than that of normal people. In another way,as the growth of the age, Toxoplasma infection rates of the higher agegroup psychiatric patients were obviously higher than that of the youngergroup. Male or female mental patients infected with Toxoplasmaprobability has no obvious difference.
