| Objective:To compare the clinical effectiveness between conventional acupuncture treatment and acupuncture combined with suspended moxibustion on Yongquan point(KI1) in treating insomnia patients whose syndrome differentiation are failure of the heart and kidney communication. To assess the elevation of the treatment effect on conducting the fire back to its origin, which manipulates as suspended moxibustion on Yongquan(KI1) for insomnia caused by heart-kidney disharmany. To provide new clinical treatment ideas and interventions for heart-kidney miscommunication insomnia.Methods:A randomized, controlled, single blind clinical trial was used. Patients who met the heart-kidney miscommunication insomnia inclusion criteria were included in. and randomly divided into treatment group and control group36cases each. Two groups recived acupuncture treatment with or without suspended moxibustion on KI1for one month (twenty times), once a day in the first ten times, and every other day in the other ten times. We did the follow-up three months after last treatment. The sleep condition was evaluated by scale score and its improvement with Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) scale and traditional chinese syndrome after treatment. All data processed with computer SPSS13.0.Results:Following the pilot scheme a total of67patients completed the treatment. Two patients were dropped out in the treatment group with3patients in control group. The basic line of two groups had no significant difference.(P>0.05).1.Comparison in the group:Both scores of PSQI and traditional medicine syndromes decreased after treatment, which has significant diffecrence(P<0.05).2.Comparison between the group:①The recovery rate of treatment group was55.88%,and that of control group was39.39%according to sleep scores after treatment, the former is higher but difference had no statistical significance(P>0.05).②Total and each subject scores of PSQI scales showed no significant difference(P>0.05).③Traditional chinese syndromes scores of heart-kidney failure communication type showed no significant difference(P>0.05).④Cure rate combined with excellent rate in two groups were64.7%and42.42%, with significant difference (P<0.05).3. Follow-up:"No significant statistical difference was found between25treatment group subjects and26control group’s at the follow-up time of three months after treatment.Conclusions:There were effectiveness in treating insomnia patients with heart-kidney miscommunication by both suspended moxibustion on KI1combined with acupuncture and normal methods of acupuncture. These were proved by decline of each observing score. There was signifficant difference in heart-kidney failure communication syndrom improvement between two groups, indicated the method of guiding fire to origin by KI1suspended moxibustion had synergistic effect. With the convenient manipulation, this method should be popularized in the clinic. |
