Objective:Detection of left atrial function in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) by real time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE),quantitative tissue velocity imaging (QTVI) and speckle tracking imaging (STI) provide valuable information for early and accurate clincical evaluation of left atrial function. Methods:Normal control group of32cases were selected after interrogation enquiry, physical examination,ECG,chest X-ray and echocardiography. There were30HCM patients (upper interventricular septum hypertrophy without left ventricular outflow obstruction) with normal liver and kidneys without endocrine disease, immune system disease and other heart diseases like hypertension, coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease and arrhythmia. All the HCM patients were asymptomatic and hadn’t received any clinical treatment yet.The tissue velocity curve of atrial septum and left atrial lateral wall of the middle section in patients with HCM were detected by QTVI,the strain rate curve of atrial septum and left atrial lateral wall of the middle section in patients with HCM were detected by STI and the left atrial volume curve was detected by RT-3DE in patients with HCM.they were evaluated left atrial function and compared with the healthy control group.Results:1.Ve of atrial septum and left atrial lateral wall of the middle section decreased while Va increased in HCM group and there were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05).2.SRe of atrial septum and left atrial lateral wall of the middle section decreased while SRa increased in HCM group and there were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05).3.LAPEF decreased while LAAFF and LAVmin increased in HCM group and there were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Left atrial dysfunction had occurred in patients with HCM when the left ventricular function was still normal and with no obvious clinical symptoms.2.QTVI,STI and RT-3DE combined to detect left atrial function provide reliable information for early accurate clinical evaluation of left atrial function in patients with HCM.
