| ObjectiveCervical vertigo(CV)is a common disease with intricateetiology and pathogenesis which has a considerably high incidenceamong the elderly. The patients with cervical vertigo often sufferedfrom long duration and frequent recurrence, and their work and lifewould be seriously affected. This study is to observe theimprovement of symptoms as well as blood supply of vertebrobasilarartery(VBA)of patients with cervical vertigo by using the treatmentof ordinary acupuncture and acupuncture Sishencong acupointthrough a randomized controlled trials. At the meantime, compare theeffect between these two different treatments, try to analyse themechanism of treating cervical vertigo by acupuncturing Sishencongacupoint, thereby,to find out a practical method to cure cervicalvertigo and to improve the quality of lives for the patients.Methods72observed cases were from both inpatients and outpatients ofWuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who were meetingthe inclusion and exclusion criteria. All patients were divided intotreatment group and control group randomly, each group has36cases.Except5expulsions,34patients in the control group of33 in the treatment group were included in the statistics finally.Compared the general factors, the grading of“Cervical VertigoSymptoms and Function Evaluation Seale(ESCV)†and the bloodavialability of VBA before treatment, there was no significantdifference between2groups of patients.Both2groups were selectedBaihui,Fengchi,Tianzhu and Dazhu for acupuncture treatment, andchosen Tianzhu and Dazhu to be electroacupuncture stimulated,Whilethe treatment group also selected acupoint of Sishencong inaddition. All the patients had treatment once a day, everytime itwould lasted for30minutes,5days for each course, then, took a restfor2days,and begun the next course, until the completion of2courses.After that, once again marked the ESCV,tested the bloodavialability of VBA by using transcranial doppler(TCD),followed upfor3months to see whether the patients’ symptoms have recurred.ResultsStatistical results show that, for patients of both groups, allobserved outcome measures has been improved, differences between2groups both in ESCV grade and the blood avialability of VBA aresignificant. The treatment group have better Compositive effectsthan the control group-for the former the cure rate is69.70%,markedly effective rate is21.21%,the total efficiency is93.94%, while the latter has44.12%of cure rate,29.41%of markedlyeffective rate,85.29%of total efficiency.ConclusionAcupuncture Sishencong have two-way adjustment on thehemodynamic of the VBA in patients with CV, and can effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms of the patients. Therefore,it is asimple, safe method with no toxic and side-effect which deserve theclinical expansion. |
