| Objective: This paper is a comparative study upon the origin and the development ofChinese and Thai Massage which have a long history. The author has been discussed,compared and analyzed about the origin and the development of Chinese and ThaiMassage including their similarities and also their differences. The purpose of this study isto be a historical reference in traditional massage between these two countries.Method: Literature review and comparative analysis method. The author compared theorigin and the development of Chinese and Thai Massage which divided into five stages:the first stage is the origin of massage history between the two countries. The second stageis Chinese Massage in Chun Qiu Zhan Guo to San Guo period compared with ThaiMassage. The third stage is Chinese Massage in the period of Liang Jin, Nan Bei Chao toSui Tang Dynasties compared with Thai Massage. The fourth stage is Chinese Massage inthe period of Song, Jin and Yuan Dynasties compared with Thai Massage. The fifth stage isChinese Massage in the period of Ming Qing Dynasties until present compared with ThaiMassage.Results:1. Traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Thai medicine have been developed for along history; they have been accumulated of experiences and theoretical summaries toform their system.2. Chinese and Thai Massage are part of the traditional medicine; in the history oftraditional Chinese medicine and traditional Thai medicine, each shows the differentpatterns and characteristics in the same historical stage.3. The knowledge of human anatomy has a larger relative impact on Chinese Massagewhich emphasis on treating diseases, in the other hand; Thai Massage does not have a largerelative in the knowledge of human anatomy and in treating diseases as Chinese Massage.4. Traditional Chinese and traditional Indian medicine have a significant impact in theorigin and the development of traditional Thai medicine, especially Thai Massage. Thisalso shows that Thai Massage has a lot of techniques and characteristic as ChineseMassage. |
