Study On Undergraduate Education Of Information Management And Information System Major In TCM Colleges And Universities

Combining the development trend of future medical and healthinformation technology, the study explores the requirements ofmedical and health information construction for knowledgestructure and ability of undergraduates majoring informationmanagement and information system in traditional Chinese medicaluniversities based on research on the need of IT elites conductedby medical and health institutions and enterprises of medicalsoftware. The study discusses the discrepancy between knowledgeand ability of undergraduates and the requirements of medical andhealth enterprises for IT elites through analyzing thedevelopment of undergraduate education on information managementand information system in traditional Chinese medicaluniversities. Comparing the education program for undergraduatesin information management and information system of ninetraditional Chinese medical universities, the study analyzes thecharacteristics of how traditional Chinese medical universitiesfoster undergraduates in information management and informationsystem to develop knowledge structure and abilities fromeducation objectives, education requirements and curriculum.Finally the study shows that undergraduates majoring informationmanagement and information system in traditional Chinese medical universities should master knowledge on computers, management,information system, medicine and pharmacology, and mathematics.In addition, the undergraduates should also acquire the abilityof IT application, information program planning, application andmaintenance of information system, business communication andorganizing and coordination. On the basis of the study, we drawsup the general standard of education program for undergraduatesin information management and information system of traditionalChinese medical universities, which is an reference for theimplement of teaching reform and improvement of talentscultivation quality in the future.
