| Objective: To investigate the relationship between the blood-brain barrier(BBB)disfunction and epilepsy.Methods:62young Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups, we willstudy the relationships of BBB permeability and epilepsy and gliosis through experimentalmodel of weight drop. Results: The degree of BBB opening and the number of GFAP positive cells betweenmannitol group and the saline group the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05); But theamount of seizures of the two groups no statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion: The blood-brain barrier leakage can be caused by serum albumin extravasationinto the brain tissue, direct brain exposure to serum albumin is associated with albumin uptakeinto astrocytes, which is mediated by transforming growth factor b receptors (TGF-bRs),lead toglial cell activation and proliferation, the greater the degree of openness of the blood-brainbarrier, the more glial cell proliferation, Activated astrocytes increased the neuronalhyperexcitability and eventually epileptiform. |
