| The Han Dynasty calligraphy plays significant roles in the calligraphy history, and among of them the profoundest significance is“the Magistrate changesâ€. We may get a glimpse of the truth of the calligraphy evolution from the bamboo or wooden slips. In this paper, a general and integrative study is carried from the morphologic evolution and style patterns of the calligraphic pen. In that the East and West Han Dynasty is in a history stage with complicated evolution, rich techniques of writing and multiple styles in calligraphy, the calligraphy and ink marks in bamboo or wooden slips in this period inherit the writing of the Qin Dynasty and open up the writing of the Wei and Jin Dynasty. Also with the character font shape of seal character, clerical script, Ba Fen style and grass style accomplished.In this paper, the intrinsic origins of the forming of the East and West Dynasty (the early stage calligraphy education at that time, clerks, calligrapher and the calligraphy theory promotion), and the writing medium (the writing materials form) are analyzed, and then written features of the bamboo and wooden slips (the character font shape, styles of using calligraphic pen, the features of the art of composition) and style pattern (the unbending natural pattern, the inherited simple and unsophisticated pattern, the exaggerated condensation pattern, the practical ornamental pattern and the delicate pattern with crude written) are studied with classification, at the end the historical role and influence to the calligraphy and ink marks of the bamboo and wooden slips are summarized. |
