“Big talk” has been a spectacular cultural phenomenon in the Chineseliterary theory in recent years. It mainly refers to large-scale recomposition ofclassical works and all-round funny account of legends or stories people arefamiliar with. With hot debut of the film A Chinese Odyssey, the culturalphenomenon of the “big talk” of Pilgrimage to the West has drawn more andmore attention, producing a considerable number of works concerning to “bigtalk” of Pilgrimage to the West. With colorful content and form, these worksmodernly interpret classical masterpiece Pilgrimage to the West subversively.Deriving from a literary classic and crossing many fields of media, thecreation fashion of “big talk” is prevailing in current literary and art circles.Those works are rather well-received in public and especially among youngpeople.As other rise of literary phenomenon, the “big talk” of Pilgrimage to theWest must have its unique way of utterance constructing and inherent culturalproperty.
