The oriental context is the starting point in this paper.It analyzes the easterncomplex and cases in the contemporary oil paintings of China.It also look into the futureof Chinese oil paintings. The vertical research and horizontal comparison are the mainresearch methods.At the same time,it think that the oriental context in contemporary oilpaintings of china is the inevitable result of geographical factors and the inevitable trendof the extend of Chinese culture.So,the oriental context must be the inevitable trend ofthe vertical extend of Chinese oil paintings.Oil painting is the main form of the western painting.It has been learned absorbedand developed since it was introduced in China in the nineteenth century totoday.Chinese artists have begun to explore the form with Chinese characteristics sinceoil paintings being a art from foreign was introduced in our country.At the beginning ofthe last century,some Chinese artists went abroad to study the western painting.Thenthey brought the western painting concept to China,and improved the modernization ofChinese paintings.These artists integrated techniques and ideas of traditional paintinginto oil paniting.Mr Yuben said that describing Chinese folk by western ways is ouraim,and we wish that art will contribute to Chinese customs.So,Chinese oil paintersexpress Chinese national spirit by western material,explor a new form of painting,andcreat works of art with Chinese ethnic characteristics.
