According to present studies, it is found that most of tea researches focused on the field of tea culture and tea literature. Even the studies of tea poems only found their literature orientation, which is one of main tea cultural carriers. In order to change this situation, this paper tries to demonstrate tea imagery actively and completely from the psychological perspective, by regarding imagery as the best starting point.In theoretically,"the Imagery theory" in psychology and "image" in literature research laid a foundation for the study of the tea imagery in Chinese classical tea poetry. As to research methods, this paper used the ideas and ways of content analysis and literature research methodology, which are qualitative research methods. Choose516tea poems of Tang, Song Dynasty as study sample. Then two scorers calculated out all imageries in these poems, and classified them into different kinds. After that, the researchers summarized the characteristics of the imageries according to the descriptions in tea poems, which is to figure out the dimensions of "tea imagery". In the end, based on the result of Chi-Square Test and calculation of frequency, the paper concluded the characteristics of "tea imagery" in tea poems of Tang, Song Dynasty.The statistical results show that there were2542imageries in516poems, which could be classified into "plants imagery","animal imagery","weather imagery","artificiality imagery","character imagery" and "scene imagery". And the characteristics of these imageries were summed up into9dimensions:"the dimension of season","the dimension of time","the dimension of gang-rou","the dimension of xuan-jing","the dimension of light-heavy","the dimension of yuan-jin","the dimension of qing","the dimension of flexibility","the dimension of leisure".Through the results of Chi-Square Test and calculation of frequency, the paper found that tea imagery in tea poems of Tang, Song Dynasty showed the image of "spring","night","rou","jing""light","yuan","flexibility","qing" and "leisure". According to the demonstration based on literature research methodology, it is well understood the resons why the tea imagery takes these9traits and the psychotherapy funcition it plays.
