| With the rapid economic development of our country, global Chinese language learning is becoming a "wild-fire", and the further deepening of friendly relations between China and Thailand is making Thailand an especial hotspot of this International Chinese Language scene. However, due to various factors, Thailand’s Chinese Teaching also has its shortcomings. This thesis derives from the author’s teaching practicum in Thailand, and upon the basis of both the historical and the current situations that arise in Chinese Teaching there. Key to it was the observation and the interpretation of some unexpected, but regularly occurring student errors among those Thai students learning Chinese. To cope with these difficulties, different teaching strategies were adopted on an empirical basis, and it is hoped that these observations and innovations may enhance the future experiences of Thai Chinese teachers and the Chinese volunteers as they do their bit.The thesis is composed of four parts:The first being a "Foreword", introducing the thesis, the historical and current situations of Chinese language study in Thailand, the analysis of the Errors encountered, and the purpose and significance of this Subject’s research. The2nd Chapter—and the most vital one—describes in detail the problems and errors which were encountered in the usual methodology which teaches the pronunciation and characters of the Chinese language. The3rd Chapter sketches out briefly the supposed causes of students’ learning difficulties, and puts forward some of the puzzling situations of teaching Chinese in Thailand. In the concluding segment, the whole thesis is summarized, and points requiring further study are high-lighted. |
