Language is the carrier of culture, culture plays a restricted role on languagedevelopment in a certain extent.. Taboo words, euphemisms are particular linguisticphenomenon that have profound affect on not only communicative culture but alsopopular belief, national culture, culture of communication. In the conversation,people often talk about family, work, politics, disease and death topics, but illnessand death of this topic often makes people feel awkward, so that Chinese andVietnamese have a wide range of ways to express these kind of unavoidableembarrassed topic. Death euphemism has become an important part of thatcommunication indispensable, therefore taboo, euphemism, start from theperspective of cultural differences in-depth study, can effectively promote thecommunication and communication between different cultural groups.This thesis bases on Chinese and Vietnamese death euphemism comparativestudy of the full text, that divides into three main parts.The first part is mainly summed up the two languages and cultural identity inChina and Vietnam. The thesis also mentioned to the concept of the euphemism ofthe Cultural. In addition, the article also pointed out the relationship between theContext and euphemism.The second part focuses on difference between Chinese and Vietnamese deatheuphemism and cultural meaning.The second part compares more about “Thefeatures of structure in Hanyue death euphemism”and “The application ofVietnamese death Euphemism characteristics”.In structure, and in Chinese andVietnamese euphemism of death is divided into two structures of the monosyllabicand polysyllabic, and then pointed out the similarities and differences and thereasons of the death of Chinese and Vietnamese euphemism in that regard. Pragmaticinduction from the two main aspects to the social hierarchy, religion, etc. on the Hanmore euphemism of death were analyzed to identify similarities and differences between the two.The third part focuses on the end of this Vietnamese students use the euphemismof death questionnaire analysis. This paper investigates the object of Vietnam HanoiUniversity of Foreign Studies, Chinese Language and Culture Department of thethird grade and fourth-year undergraduates. In practice,help students, especially Vietnamese students better grasp the euphemism, and havea better understanding of the cultural differences of China and Vietnam, some of theobstacles cleared the way for future cross-cultural communication.
