With the development of society, advertising industry has made great progress.Advertisements on TV are often seen in the form of a lot of leaflets on the street. TheAdvertising is packed with in our every part of life. It has become an important mediathat impacts people greatly. Those impressing advertisements are likely to persuadeconsumers. Therefore, the study of advertisement is very necessary. Advertisinglanguage, as the most important part of advertisement, is value of studying. The thesistries to study advertising language from perspective of memetics, which provideslinguistics with a new angle.Memetics is relatively a new theory. Richard Dawkins proposed the“meme”inhis book The Selfish Gene in 1976. Meme is an element of culture, and its core isimitation. Meme has infectivity, which is related with transmission of advertisement.For this reason, the author studies the advertisement with the use of memetics. Thereexist a lot of meme phenomena in language and the author begins to analyze thememe phenomena in advertising language.Firstly, the author will analyze the ways of meme replication and transmissionin advertising language and mainly study the memetic genotype and memeticphenotype.Secondly, there are a lot of strong memes in advertising language, whichimpress consumers and are easily remembered. They are closely linked with manyskills designed by advertisers. In this section, the author will analyze the strong meme and its features.Thirdly, functions of meme in advertising language will be analyzed. Theauthor mainly chooses two aspects to study them.
