"The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution"(hereafter referred to as the "Cultural Revolution") has been called " crooked time" by many scholars for more than10years, the phenomenon in the fine art in this period is considered to be the vivid illustration of the distortion caused by the extreme stress from standard of politics. In a sense, the "Cultural Revolution" is an apotheosis of Mao Tse-Tung, Mao Tse-Tung theme painting movement, born and development in the special social and historical environment, reaching its climax in a more special social and historical environment, thus it becomes to a powerful symbol full of meaning. We have to put Mao Tse-Tung paintings into the specific historical background and context to truely understand the history, thus to understand and aftertaste the political, cultural and art of that particular era.To study the "Cultural Revolution" Mao Tse-Tung paintings of the period of "Cultural Revolution", wo need to relate the painting to the faith, politics, culture tradition of that specific period of time and the overall development trend of them as a whole.Mao Tse-Tung theme painting is the result of literature and art in Yanan the speech on the informal discussion" the thought, with a distinct purpose of political art, as an inevitable combination of Chinese feudal legacy and the worship needed by the public. The generation of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting has the inevitable relation with political ideas and religion, they influence, action and penetrate each other mutually.Taking the "Cultural Revolution" period of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting as the starting point, the main clues of this article are religious and political consciousness needs, as well as the generally show "ordinary-deification-General " trend in the works of Mao Tse-Tung image.The article analysis of its generation, characteristics and evolution trend from religion, politics, art aspect in a systemic research method.The article is divided into four chapters:the first chapter, the background of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting. From the political structure, social consciousness and artistic relations, Mao Tse-Tung theme painting are expounds as the result of social belief, public belief and Mao Tse-Tung’s demand of himself in the "Cultural Revolution" which is such a special era when art being politized, also the survival and the creation of artists in that political environment are analyized deeply.The second chapter, analysis of the mainly works of Mao Tse-Tung paintings during the "Cultural Revolution". Undergoing the guiding ideology in" the speech on the informal discussion in Yanan ", which is the political event will creat art works corresponding to such event, political action was set as the maximum value of art during that period of time. At the same time, the major works are analysed systematicly follow the clue of the generally show "ordinary-deification-Ceneral " trend in the works of Mao Tse-Tung image.The third chapter, the main feature of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting during the period of Cultural Revolution".Analyize the ideological characteristics, language features and feature modeling of the "Cultural Revolution" period of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting from the history, religion, folk custom, color psychology and other aspects.The fourth chapter, the cultural essence of. Reaching the conclusion that Mao Tse-Tung theme painting during the period of the" Cultural Revolution" are the art form of religious, utilitarian, aesthetic inertia.We should be rational perspective and comprehensive of studying Mao Tse-Tung theme painting of the "Cultural Revolution" and not simply make a judgment through an aspect. Through the meticulous analysis of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting of the period of" Cultural Revolution", This article reveals the internal links which inside the Mao Tse-Tung paintings with religious and political thought, puting forward the exploratory view on the deep mining of Mao Tse-Tung theme painting.
