A great many of celebrities appear during the process of social and historical development, and thesecelebrities may had extraordinary and brilliant achievements in history, culture, science, art, etc., whichestablish them a model admired by future generations. The former residences of these celebrities thusbecame the material heritage of the celebrities’ brilliant achievements. The nature of the former residencesof the celebrities are just traditional residences, but they became special due to its special relationship withthe celebrities, so they are different from other normal architectures and have some visit andcommemorative values. Some residences have been preserved during the urban reconstruction because theyare the former residences of celebrities. This will not only leave a spiritual homage-paying thing, but alsobenefit the study of traditional residences from the viewpoint of architecture preservation. In addition, theformer residences of celebrities are also a symbol of a city or even a region, and they enrich the historicaland cultural connotation of a city and improve the city image. With the flourishing of tourism at the present,cultural connotation has been increasingly focused, so the former residences of celebrities can not onlyopen a new horizon, but also gain the favor of tourists eager to improve their own cultural taste.Along with the continuous development of the tourism industry and tourist products, the culturallandscape in tourist market has been fully excavated, and the former residences of celebrities have drawnmore and more attention of the public as a unique cultural landscape. The issue of protection anddevelopment of the former residences of celebrities has also been focused in the agenda of varioustourism-related departments. As a tourist product with the carrier of celebrity culture, the former residencesof celebrities have their own unique tourist functions and characteristics. Our country has a vast territorywith different folk customs in different geographical regions, and the former residences of celebritiesscattered everywhere have a landscape feature closely related to the local cultures. This article suggests thatthe development of the former residences of celebrities should not be limited to the protection. In order toachieve the long-term future development of the former residences of celebrities, we should commence thedevelopment from their own tourist functions, and effectively convey the related information of the formerresidences of celebrities to the tourists, thus enable the public have a correct and comprehensiveunderstanding of the former residences of celebrities. This paper tries to make clear relevant information on the former residences of celebrities and examinethe tourism communication strategy of the former residences of celebrities from the viewpoint of masscommunication. It discusses the communication characteristics of the former residences of celebrities fromfive aspects of mass communication, including the communicator, information, the communication channel,the audience and audience feedback. It also investigates how to develop the tourism communication of theformer residences of celebrities and how to effectively convey the tourism information to the audience.Through the comparison of the former residences of celebrities and other tourism resources and the analysisof the characteristics and the value of the former residences of celebrities, a communication strategydedicated to the former residences of celebrities has been concluded, which is excavated from all aspectsrelated to celebrities. In addition to campaigns concerning celebrities, relevant tour route, media strategyand unique tourism products should also be developed in the tourism communication of the formerresidences of celebrities. A tourism communication strategy with special route for the former residences ofcelebrities and regional special route should be built, so as to effectively promote the tourismcommunication of the former residences of celebrities.
