This translation project report is based on a real translation practice, namelythe translation of2011Report on the Work of Chongqing Municipal Government,in which the author participated as a translator and accomplished by herself. Giventhe fact that certain translation practices of political texts and its related researchesare inclined to be vulnerable in theoretical guidance and ambiguity in researchobject, this report takes the unit of translation as the research highlight in light offunctionalist approaches and theories of the unit of translation. Through translationprocess study and in-depth analysis on typical cases from the project, the authorhas put forward feasible strategies on translation units in political text translationand also given suggestions on other operational issues occurred in the translationpractice.Generally, this report aims to summarize the translation project so that it mayprovide reference on concrete operation for translation practices of the similar kind.Most importantly, it illustrates that in the translation of political texts, a properchoice on different translation units is vital to achieving intended text functions andcommunicative purposes.
