Li Qi is a famous poet who grows up in the contemporary. By now, she has published 7 collections of poetry.However, People both abroad and in China paid little attention to her poetry and prose, especially from the perspective of his study of her free verse, which is not compatible with her position in the field of new poetry. Researching on the theme of her free verse poetry, this article tries to study the language of Li Qi’s poetry, which varies from the characteristics of musical and harmonious sound to the rich and refined prose-like language and to implicit flexibility as a whole. This article is also intended to get a unitary understanding of her poetry.Through the comparative analysis, the first section elaborates the definition of Chinese free verse which experienced a course from ambiguity to clearness. Free verse needs its own poetic beauty of poem specification and the verse construction should start from the following three aspects:strengthening the construction of external music of free verse poems, paying special attention to the rich diversity of creation and trying to refined the free verse.The second part explains her poetry themes which are based on the poems of Li Qi. Firstly, it discusses her poems about love, including the emotion of mothers, children and lovers. The poet lays out a world of children. Having a dual identity both daughter and mother, she created love poems of "daughter experience" and" maternal experience". In addition, the poet also maintains a childlike innocence, creating a lot of children’s poetry. By delicate brushwork the poet created a large number of love poems from love to marriage. Then, to get well known of her understanding of nature, it studies the snow poem which is the chief representative of the poet. As grown up in North, she writes from the description of snow in colorful scenery, to the praise to snow for its spiritual inner beauty. Taking sincere feelings the poet creates poem a unique world of snow in funky style. Thirdly, it discusses her poetry about the feelings of life. Through the real life experience and thinking, the poet increases the thoughts of the life and the society, thus reveals the plight and spiritual dilemma of modern people. The last is her poetry of other themes, especially the domestic and foreign traveling poems. The content of this poetry is richer, full of modern life experience and its expression also has increased gradually.The third part analyses the character of the language of Li Qi’s poetry, which has harmonious melody, simple refinement and Implicitness. The language experienced a deliberate pursuit of external musicality verse to more spiritual expression of blank verse, from the pursuit of musicality extended to the prose-like beauty. In addition, Li Qi also uses refined diction, flexible speeches and quantities of rhetoric to expand the Poetry Artistic realm.The conclusion summarizes the reasons for the success of Li Qi’s free verse, including two aspects:on the one hand, her poetry has taken nutrition both from Chinese and foreign art, and on the other hand, the poet has diligently exploring spirit on poetry. The poet’s efforts in the creation of free verse have certain enlightenment on today’s poetry.
