| With the fast development of the modern civilization, our society is now facing more and more severe ecological crisis. These crisis leave us no other choice but to find a way to live in harmony with nature as well as enjoy our material civilization. Since the20th century, we have gradually formed a variety of environmental conceptions and ecological awareness in the process of protecting the environment which we rely on. And based on these conceptions and awareness, we also have developed a series of ecological cultures concerning environment protection. These ecological cultures include the following factors:ecological philosophy, ecological education, ecological religion, ecological culture and so on. The formation and development of ecological culture is based on the conception of "harmonious coexistence of man and nature". The American Indians, as the earliest native people in North America, have accumulated plenty of knowledge and experience during their fighting against nature for survival. They created their own cultures and the culture factors such as respecting life,"harmony between man and nature", focusing on the connection between man and nature; all have deep rooted in all aspects of their cultures. This thesis elaborates on the North American Indians’ecological culture view systematically from the following aspects:North American Indians’view of nature, view of religion, pattern of production and living and North American Indians’culture. This is what the early scholars neglected in their researches on North American Cultures. Through systematical studies, this thesis expounds comprehensively on not only the simple ideas of ecological culture contained in the North American Indians’cultures but also the important enlightenment for modern people. At the same time, the thesis reached the conclusion that we should respect and protect the life and cultures of the minority ethnic groups. The purpose of this thesis is to learn the beneficial factors and seek alternative ecological ideas through the analysis of the Indian ecological culture, which can be of great significance to the construction of the ecological culture. |
