The Employment And Roles Of Contrast In The Religious Form Of Literature

Religion has a deep influence on the development of culture, especially on the development of language. The religious form of literature, as an independent style, has become the researching object for the researchers from different countries, especially the Russian scholars. And the Bible, as the most important part of religion, has been studied a lot. But nowadays, in Russia, the study on the Bible stays in the fields of sociology, culture and history. The research on the Bible from the aspect of linguistics is always a by-product of other studies.The religious form of literature, as an independent style, has very distinguishing features. The most important feature is its "two sides" feature. In religion we can find the opposition of good and evil, sincere and sin, life and death, God and demon etc. In the Bible this opposition is always shown by the technique of contrast.In this work our tasks are:Find the definition and characteristics of the religious form of literature;Find the basis of philosophy and linguistics, on which the technique of contrast is developing;Find the form and role of the relations of opposition or antonym;Explain the way of using the technique of contrast in the Bible with examples; Find the role of contrast in sustaining the coherence of texts of the Bible.The work consists of foreword, three chapters, conclusion and references.In the first chapter we analyzed the connotation and denotation of the religious form of literature in the way of studying the researching history of different countries. We found that the most important features of the religious form of literature were:distinguishing words, strengthened expression, clearly settled purpose and the "two sides" feature in the contention and form.In the second chapter we talked about the philosophical basis and the linguistic meaning of the technique of contrast. We focused on the fundamental effect of opposition when people formulate a relation of contrast, and the important role of antonym when they formulate the contrast of grammar and words. Also, we classified the technique of contrast thoroughly by analyzing the contention.In the third chapter we mainly analyzed the Bible. Through analyzing examples we studied the way of using contrast in the Bible from the aspects of literature and linguistics. And the conclusion is:the technique of contrast could sustain the unity and coherence of the Bible, and could recruit more believers through the contrast of good and evil, sincere and sin.In conclusion we summarized the whole work. In this work we found that the Bible is the most important part of the religious form of literature. The discipline of composing the Bible is the technique of contrast in contention and form. With this technique the Bible helped people recruit more believers and sustain the unit and coherence of texts.
