With the further popularization of higher education in our country and the increasingly numbers of college graduates, the employment circumstances of college students becomes much more severe. In such a case, college employment situation has become an important indicator for society to evaluate its education quality. In recent years, it is common that employing unit can’t successfully employ proper talents and college students can’t get their jobs. The employment difficulty is not only due to the shortage of market demand or labor surplus, while a major reason is that the employment ability of college students is weak. Under the new employment situation, in order to solve the employment difficulty of college students from both school and individual levels, the key point is to continuously improve their employment ability.The concept of psychological capital was proposed along with the rising of positive psychology, gradually becoming a focus of peoples’ attention. Many researchers confirmed that psychological capital had effect on psychological health, the sense of happiness, and working performance. However, can psychological capital influence the improvement of employment ability? Whether we can promote the college students’ employment ability through adjusting their psychological capital condition? Such problems deserve our research.This research is based on the study of the related concepts and theories of psychological capital and employment ability of college students. Applying the results of Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PPQ) edited by Zhang Kuo, ect. and College Students’ Employment Ability Check List made by the author, this thesis makes an empirical research on the correlation between psychological capital and employment ability of college students. Firstly, this paper completes the selection and edition work of measuring tools of psychological capital and employment ability through the previous researches. Secondly, it tests the reliability and validity of the measuring tools of psychological capital and employment ability, to guarantee they fit the request of this research. Thirdly, it makes research on study objects by using selected measuring tool of psychological capital and self-edited measuring tool of employment ability. Lastly, based on the research data statistics, it analyzes the situation of psychological capital and employment ability of college students and makes correlation analysis between this two.The main conclusions are as follows:1. The overall mean of psychological capital was3.3966, and the mean scores of self-efficacy, resilience, hope and optimism respectively were3.2181,3.3039,3.6038,3.5056, all above3, the midpoint value of the scale, which proved that the overall and individual factors score of the psychological capital of college students were in the middle or upper levels. From gender perspective, the overall psychological capital, self-efficacy, and resilience differed a lot. From ethnic group perspective, no obvious difference was found. From the perspective of whether the only child or not, significant discrepancy was discovered in self-efficacy. Students from different places showed great differences in overall psychological capital and self-efficacy. Students in different grades showed apparent differences in the factor of self-efficacy. Students from different disciplines differed a lot in resilience. Students under different family income situation showed obvious discrepancy in overall psychological capital, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism. Students of different family types had no remarkable differences.2. The overall mean of employment ability was3.4307, and the mean scores of self-development ability, interpersonal communication ability, self-confidence, practice ability, and adaptation ability were respectively3.4888,3.4979,3.3988,3.3939,3.4007, all above3, the midpoint value of the scale, which confirmed that the overall and individual factors score of the employment ability of college students were in the middle or upper levels.3. The research shows a significant positive correlation between psychological capital and employment ability of college students, proving that richer accumulation of psychological capital betters the employment ability. Psychological capital has strong positive effect on predicting employment ability. Psychological capital can explain62.0%variance and variation of employment ability. The three factors of psychological capital, self-efficacy, hope, and optimism have liner regression relationship with employment ability. The factor of self-efficacy first enters into the regression equation which explains56.0%variance and variation of employment ability. The second one is hope, which explains8.7%variance and variation of employment ability. And the last one is optimism, and it explains3.3%variance and variation of employment ability.Finally, on the basis of analyzing and discussing the result of study, the paper put forward suggestions from both college and individual student levels on how to promote the employment ability of college students by develop their psychological capital.
