"As a part of literature translation, translation in children’s novel draws ever more attention in recent years. Dialogue translation, which is the largest part of children’s novel translation, mainly reflects the difference between translation of children’s novel and other kinds of literature translation. In order to translate the dialogue in children’s novel accurately, vividly and distinctively, we shall be scrupulous about the choice of words.Firstly, dialogue is written in a colloquial style which has its own feature. Moreover, the readers of children’s literature are children who have their own characteristic in understanding of words and the point of view of appreciation. While picking words, translators must take these two points into consideration. Secondly, the dialogue comes from the novel, and the objective condition in the novel restricts the translator in picking words. Different roles uses different words in varying circumstances, thus translators must be cautious in choosing words. Thirdly, translators can apply proper strategies in choosing words when meet some challenges in cultural and linguistic differences.In order to overcome these problems above, the author of this paper translates the children’s novel Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and analyzes some typical sentences by taking the three points mentioned above into account. This paper also serves as a conclusion in the author’s translation practice.
