According to the Skopos Theory, it is the purpose that determines the translating process. The translator, when translating, must have a definite purpose in mind and choose translating strategies accordingly to meet the demands of the target readers to the best. This thesis probes some concrete methods and strategies in E-C translation of children’s literature, taking the Chinese version of The Velveteen Rabbit as a case study and having the Characteristics of literature and the specificity of children readers included in discuss. The author hopes the study will be able to broaden her knowledge of translation of children’s literature and improve her translation skills.The thesis, besides an introduction and a conclusion, includes three chapters. The first chapter is mainly about the Skopos theory:the Skopos rule in translation, the target readers and the guidance of the theory to the translation of children’s literature. This chapter lays the foundation for the discussion of the translation of CL in Chapter Three. The second chapter expounds the language features of children’s literature, that is, concise diction, simple and short sentences which are full of musical beauty. Based on the first two chapters, the third chapter, taking some translations in my Chinese version The Velveteen Rabbit for example, discusses some translation strategies of children’s literature. The author of the thesis mainly adopts the strategy of domestication in the translation of The Velveteen Rabbit together with the use of onomatopoeia and the retroflex“儿”which often appear in Chinese children’s literature. She hopes the study will broaden her knowledge of translation of children’s literature and improve her translation skills.
