The structure of “V/A+de(得)+degree complement” is a special structure inChinese, especially with such degree complements as “yaoming(要命), yaosi(要死),keyi(可以), buxing(不行), jingren(惊人), xiaren(吓人), budeliao(不得了),liaobude(了不得)”. Scholars give different names for them, such as “para-adverbs”,“hard-wired complements”, and so on. Because these complements are particular,we analyze the similarities and differences between them in this paper. Besides, westudy the structure of “V/A+de(得)+degree complement” from the level of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics comprehensively in order to provide reference for teachingChinese as a foreign language. The first chapter is the introduction which mainly introduces the significance ofthe topic, previous studies, methods, and corpus sources, etc.The second chapter confines the spectrum of our research, after which weclassify the predicate “V” and “A” in detail and point out the structure can act notonly as the predicate, but also as the object, attribute and complement. This structureis different from the adhesive structure with degree complement. The object can’tappear before or after the complement in the adhesive structure directly, but we canuse “ba(把)” or repeat predicate to introduce the object. The third chapter analyzes the structure of “V/A+de(得)+degree complement”from semantic and pragmatic perspective. After analyzing the semantic of thepredicate and the structure with “de(得)”, we think the structure of “V/A+de(得)+degree complement” is used to express the high degree of thesubjective comment or feeling. This structure is mainly used in spoken language, withstrong subjectivity. The exaggerated quantity is one of the conveying ways of thesubjective quantity. The semantic focus is on the complement. The fourth chapter studies the source of the degree meaning of the degreecomplement and the relationship between the degree meaning and the originalmeaning, then explains it from the perspective of the transformation ofcognitive domain.
