The information which the documentary film with the carrier oftelevision and screen wants to transfer is only received by vision andhearing, but the information included in documentary film is the senseof feeling, smell and taste more than the partial of vision and hearing, orthe mood what any of five sense organs can realize separated. Eachdocumentary film should make the lack of sense organ with thecombination of seeing and hearing, which ensure audience to realizevarious information what the film wants to express completely, in orderto be personally on the scene, this should have the organiccombination of image and music.However, in China, for long term development of the documentaryfilm, the status of music is relatively weak because of the influence ofsome traditional realism, once become the method to choke back theart of some creator of “original ecological documentary”. Until1980s,the development of “The new documentary movement in China” is thecomprehensive rational reflection of the documentary film creationdomestic, which exploit the possibility of diversified documentarycreation, and then the relationship of music and image ofdocumentary film are becoming the focus of debate in the process ofthe documentary film creation. Nowadays, with the change of ideasand measure of creation, the method and way of documentary filmfacture has also got the revolutionary development, music as anindependent art, its conception is different with the traditional music,but one of the elements that constitute a documentary.however indomestic, most section of documentary film recently do not grasp theright the degree of music using, which unable the music to play a goodrole of the film, and in academia, neither have the work in the functionof music for documentary film except some related article. Therefore, this article attempts to use documentary "MongoliaPlateau M emory" as a case, using the subjective and objective musicof the film as the main research object, trying to use the music as aelement of documentary film creation to find out the innovation ofmusic performance method, at the same time, also to plays a certainrole of promoting the development of documentary production. Thisarticle will through the following parts of the set:The First Chapter, Introduction; The second Chapter, The Sound InDocumentary Film; The Third Chapter, The Use of Music In TheDocumentary Film “Mongolia Plateau Memory”; The Fourth Chapter,The Features and Functions of Music in The Documentary Film.
