The Female Cunsciousness In Mansfield Park

Mansfield Park, the medium-term literary work of Jane Austen, is very popular and enduring. As Jane Austen’s novel in a specific period, it links the preceding with the following of Jane’s whole creative works. Compared with Jane Austin’s other works, this fiction which has a much more complex plot, more centralized burst characteristics event, and also stronger society satirizes meaning, can represent Jane Austin’s artistic thoughts and artistic achievements as well.With a close reading of Mansfield Park, this paper discusses on the strong feminine awareness of female characters in the work, systematically analyzes the development of female consciousness in Jane’s literary works, thus highlighting the significance of Mansfield Park within the developing of feminine thought in Jane Austen’s works, simultaneously reaffirms Jane Austin as a pioneer who made contribution to the establishment of a women’s writing traditions.This paper includes three parts,"introduction","main body", and"conclusion". Main body has been devided into three parts as well.Introduction, the first part of the paper, briefly introduces the British feminist literature as well as Jane Austin’s feminist position within it and summarizes Mansfield Park in the history of literature status as well as the academic circles to this work research present situation, proposes this article research goal and the research significance.Chapter Ⅰ, the first part of main body, analyzes the cultural significance of feminine consciousness in Mansfield Park within the historical context of the novel; Chapter Ⅱ discusses women’s characteristics in the entire work by means of feminist theory and with a close-reading skill to represent the uniqueness and fullness of female images. Chapter Ⅲ makes a detailed comparative analysis between Mansfield Park and both Jane Austen’s early works Intellectual and Emotional, Pride and Prejudice and her later works Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion, interpreting the uniqueness of feminine consciousness in the Mansfield Park.The last part of the thesis is conclusion. Through the analysis of main body, we can confirm that Mansfield Park plays a very important role within Jane Austen’s whole creative career. The female writer Jane Austin explored social problems through feminine point of view, and her creative work embodies special and remarkable feminine consciousness, occupying a very important position in history, and having great impact to later generations.
