The dominant times of Leoâ…¢ is an important period of Byzantine Empire.With this paper, I will analyze the domestic and foreign affairs of Byzantium emperor the Leoâ…¢, including his internal reform,Iconoclasm,and his policies towards foreign countrys.At last,the conclusion is that the dominant times of Leoâ…¢ serves as a connecting link between the preceding and the fllowing Byzantium emperor. Leoâ…¢ got military support from the generals in eastern theme attributed to his economy and religion policies,consquently he resisted the Arab army outside the Constantinople city wall successfully.However,his creation of Iconoclasm ascribed to the fission between himself and the Rome Pope,and finally caused the disintegration of the eastern and western provinces of the empire.The policies of the previous emperors of Byzantium had affected the rules of Leoâ…¢,and the rules of Leoâ…¢,especially the Iconoclasm also had an impact on his descendants like ConstantineV.
