A Study Of Ye Qianyu’s Cartoon During The Anti-Japanese War Period (1938.1.1-1938.6.16)

This thesis studies Ye Qianyu’s early works，explores his style、techniqueand form，and draws the conclusion that his works have four characteristics：criticism and humor、 sketch、comic strip、decoration. This thesis analyzes theform，change and influence of the four characteristics and investigates the artist’spersonal experience and character so as to make clear the whole formation process ofYe’s artistic character and viewpoint. The emphasis is put on his works during theAnti-Japanese War, together with those made in Shanghai cartoon period，andChinese Traditional Painting Period. Comparing the style, technique and function inthe different period，this thesis explain the reason and influence of the changes of hisstyle，especially the reason of his changes from cartoon and Traditional ChinesePainting.
