| George·Gordon-Byron is one of the most prominent romantic poets and outstanding representatives in British literature of the19th century. He created a series of typical Byronic heroes by his poems. All these heroes have common traits---revolt, loneliness, pondering the meaning of life. In recent years, experience from Byron’s own legend to its Byronic heroes, and then to Byron’s Eastern Complex, attracted the attention and exploration of many scholars at home and abroad. However, Byron’s view of females is rarely studied by researchers in literature. In the current article, we will focus on the study of some representative females from Byron’s poems and penetrate Byron’s view of females by analyzing the females’ characters and social values. It is hoped that Byron’s unique aesthetic perception of females can be understood by exploring Byronic women’s standpoint of social values. We will finally investigate the reasons of Byron’s biases from his religious and personal background as well as his emotions. |
