Research On College Students’ Innovative Quality And Psychological Health

Academic research on innovative psychological quality in China to date is only on a theoretic stage, and focuses mainly on middle school students. Although there are some academic achievements on college students’ innovative psychological quality, they are basically general research and analysis and lacking of empirical research.This thesis will discuss the inter-relationship between innovative psychological quality and psychological health. The research gives a whole picture of the present situation of innovative psychological quality and psychological health, provides theoretical foundation for research on college students’innovative psychological quality and relevant factors, and will benefit the researchers engaged in how to improve innovative psychological quality and psychological health of college students.To understand the inter-relationship of innovative psychological quality and psychological health of the students in my college, questionnaire survey was conducted. In the survey,400undergraduates were selected at a random basis, and387questionnaires were collected back. After eliminating the unqualified questionnaires,341remained, which made the questionnaires’availability as85.25%. By different categorizing standards, the341questionnaires can be sort as:164by males,177by females;183by science and engineering students,158by liberal arts students;104by students from urban areas,237by students from rural areas;101by singletons,240by non-singletons;113by freshmen,58by sophomores,93by juniors, and77by seniors. The survey adopted innovative psychological quality form and SCL-90questionnaire. The results are as follows:(1) College students’scores on sense of innovation, capability of innovation and sense of competition are not high.(2) No significant influence was noted due to respondents’gender, majors and whether they are singleton or not. Sense of innovation of students from urban areas is remarkably higher than those from rural areas. And sense of competition of seniors is remarkably lower than freshmen, sophomores and juniors.(3) Psychological health of college students is notably worse than average.(4) Gender doesn’t have significant influence on college students’ obsessive compulsive disorder, sensitivity in relationship, depress, anxiety, others and grand total score, but has significant influence on somatization, hostility, paranoid and psychosis; to be specific, psychological health of males are worse than that of females. Majors and family location don’t have significant influence on any aspect of psychological health of college students. Singletons are more paranoid than non-singletons. Age has significant influence on somatization, hostility, paranoid and psychosis, and freshmen have highest psychological health.(5) There are significant negative correlations among college students’sense of innovation, capability of innovation, sense of competition, grand total score and ten factors, which means there is significant positive correlation between innovative psychological quality and psychological health.(6) The college students with better psychological health have remarkably higher score on sense of innovation, capability of innovation and sense of competition.(7) We can speculate a student’s sense of innovation and capability of innovation from the sensitivity in relationship, and speculate a student’s sense of competition from somatization.
